There are many many gutter guards, leaf guards and leaf mesh type products on the market. Some are gutter mesh type products made from aluminium, some are plastic, some are hedgehog type inserts, some are foam inserts and the list goes on.
THE REASON WE DO NOT RECOMMEND GUTTER GUARDS AND LEAF STOPPING PRODUCTS
Quite often they can catch more leaves and create a dam/barrier that catches other leaves and sticks. This then backs up the roof and rusts the roof underneath the leaves (see video on this page).
It is a common misconception that if you have gutter guards installed you will no longer need gutter cleaning. This is simply not the case. You still need to perform gutter cleans periodically, to clean the dust and dirt, pollen which passes through the system that sits in the bottom of your gutters.
They impede the flow of air to the gutter stopping it from drying out. This means that the seeds from bat and bird droppings that land on your roof now propagate and grow in your gutters (see photos and video).
They increase the cost of regular gutter cleaning as it increases the time taken to do a gutter clean on your premises. Depending on the installer you can end up with damage to your roof.
Most people have gutter guard type products installed to eliminate the need for gutter cleaning and to save money by not having to pay to get the gutters cleaned. Having gutter mesh or leaf stopping systems on your gutters are very expensive and ALMOST NEVER saves you money in the long term.
Almost all gutter guard type systems need to be attached to you house somehow and this generally means holes in your roof or gutters or both.
Eventually they WILL need to be removed as they rust or break and create considerable blockages or damage to your building. This can now be very expensive as not only does it all need removed all the screw etc need repaired and the holes from the screws sealed up to prevent water entering.
